Why do drains need repairing?
There’s many reasons why drains may need repairing. Quite often it’s due to the use of older cast iron waste pipes which, whilst made from a hardy material durable enough to endure over the years, are susceptible to corrosion through waste gases oxidising producing sulphuric acid that eats away at the interior of the pipe. The resulting build up of rust corrosion inside the pipes can end up restricting the flow causing a drain blockage. The corrosive acid can also weaken the walls of the pipe causing cracks to form, usually along the seam of the pipe.
As part of my drain repair service, I can install new plastic pipes to replace cracked or corroded iron stack pipes, like I did for a customer in Westerham who’s cast iron drain suffered a crack which led to a leak and damp.
